The History of Pleasure Piers 1914 to 2019

April 2019 WPT Talk – Open to all.

Following her recent first lecture in her two part look at the history of British pleasure piers, Jackie Marsh-Hobbs in her second lecture covers the lucky survivors, disasters and heartbreak in the battle against the elements and the declining appeal of the British seaside holiday. Jackie will also cover how some pleasure piers have had to adapt and change, while others have managed to stay as more traditional piers. A celebration of our successful, surviving piers, that continue to bring pleasure to locals and holiday makers alike.
