Cinema in Brighton: The West Pier and Beyond

Brighton’s relationship with cinema runs deeper than you might expect. This exhibition traces that history — from the West Pier as a backdrop for one of British cinema’s most ambitious productions, to the city’s broader connections with figures such as Laurence Olivier, Richard Attenborough, and Charlie Chaplin. It also examines how film was deployed as a propaganda tool during the First World War. Archival footage of Brighton and the West Pier accompanies the display.
