Nine year old Roxy Toyne from Brighton has won BBC Radio 2’s children’s short story competition for her entry ‘The Starlings of the West Pier’. Market at the West Pier

Whilst there is still a delay on the start of i360 construction a market will take place by the West Pier at weekends and bank holidays. Goods for sale include second hand books, original clothing, jewellery, hats and sunglasses. The West Pier cafe has opened again and will also be operating until i360 work begins.

West Pier Fragments Still Available

We still have fragments for sale. Most of what remains are large pieces – such as columns and lamp posts which are suitable for gardens. Here is a photo of some of the columns available. Please contact us  if you would like to view them.

i360 Latest

Much preparatory work is happening behind the scenes and visitors to the beach will have noticed the progress being made to restore the arches west of the pier. These will be an integral part of the scheme. We still don’t have a date for the start of on site construction, but will announce it as soon as we have.

The Fear

is a Channel 4 drama to be broadcast 3rd – 6th December at 10pm. It stars Peter Mullan with the West Pier playing an important role. You can read a feature about it in the latest edition of Radio Times (p43).

West Pier Kiosk

The new landscaping scheme either side of the i360 will feature lots of original pier artefacts and its focal point will be a restored 1866 octagonal pier kiosk. Trust AGM

A reminder to Trust members that this year’s AGM will be held at 6pm on Thursday 15th November at the Hilton Brighton Metropole. After the formal business, Marks Barfield Associate Director, Ian Crockford, will give a talk, bring members up to date with i360 progress and answer questions from the floor.
