The Brighton West Pier Trust was created in 1978 to save the pier and return it to public use. Its aim is ultimately to achieve a full and authentic restoration of the pier to look as it did in its heyday, the late 1920's, and to ensure that it never again falls into a cycle of decline. The Trust is a charity and a limited company which owns the pier and the rights that attach to it and has approximately 1300 members.

Rachel Clark

Geoff came to the Trust in August 1995 having retired from the University of Sussex where he had been Secretary and Registrar. He was one of the founding members of the University, joining the staff in 1961. He oversees the management and funding of the Trust and leads the strategy for the restoration of the pier. This involves negotiating with our partners and funding bodies and co-ordinating the many strands of the restoration. His job is part-time, but we try not to tell him that, and he works mainly from home.

Rachel has worked at the Trust since 1993.

As General Manger her responsibilities include the day-to-day running of the Trust, press and PR, membership and West Pier heritage. She is also Company Secretary to the Board and its committees.

She works Monday to Thursday and can be contacted on 01273 321499 or rachel@westpier.co.uk
